Lol. KTM simply isn’t at the end of its lifespan after 20,000 miles. You seem to be trying to convince yourself the Honda is “better”. They’re both great bikes, but when it comes to performance the KTM kills the Honda. Doesn’t mean the Honda is a bad bike and it’s ok if you prefer it.

I have a 23 300R and find it as a nice compliment to my 24 300XC. It's got enough grunt and power to get you by most stuff but not overpowering where you need to be careful. It's such a fun bike to ride in trails switching between the 2 as this lets you be more aggressive in your approach without the consequences like a 300 2 stroke. Even in big desert hill climbs in jawbone it was handling real well up a lot of hills. I love this bike and is a much better bike then the Honda. The weight is only a issue when your picking it up but most bikes are when you are picking it up anyway lol

Make no mistake- the KLX is NOT new. It’s pretty much the same exact bike parading the KLX graphics in the ‘90’s. It has zero power and pretty much cannot get out of its own way. It’s a campground bike at best. This is why you see so many for sale with under 100 miles. People buy them based on looks alone and have no idea the engine is a 30-year old punched out street bike motor.

I would consider a CRF250F first. 40 pounds lighter, nearly the same HP and torque, $1200 cheaper. $160 dual sport kit makes it street legal in many states.

I have just sold my FE501 (same as a EXC500) and bought a 450L, the Honda is superior in many ways. However, the FE501/EXC 500 is still an incredible motorcycle. The power the FE501 makes is infectious but I always had doubts about when it will breakdown.

I have a 24, maybe has 800 miles or so. Its died about 3 times. Pull the clutch go to grab a gear and it dies. Always fires back up and its never during aggressive riding only when cruising

Find out which roads and trails are going to be closing in east side(San Rafael Swell) and ride them while you can.5MOH and the other trails in the Temple Mountain OHV may be slated for closure.Its in the hands of the BLM now.I think we are going to get screwed big time.

You nailed it. I feel guilty riding my XCW 300 on easy roads. Every mile I ride that’s “easy” is a wasted mile on my KTM. That’s why I’m looking to get a DRZ, so I don’t feel guilty about exploring some forest and BLM roads on a high performance machine. Glad to hear someone else feels similar. Thanks for the video.

Got back into the dual sport game after 18 yr absence. Bought a used 2020 KLX 250 with 1300 miles on it and loving it so far. Yes it’s a bit underpowered, but I’m 52 and want the lower power so I don’t get into trouble. I’m about 300 lbs with gear, bike is handling that fine over off road conditions. I just don’t try to jump it. Big pot holes it handles fine. Seat sucks so I have a Seat Concepts seat ordered for it. So far a skid plate is only other mod but planning on a Yoshi exhaust and fender eliminator. Having a blast riding the forest service roads of varying difficulty here in VA. No regrets so far. Looking forward to couple overnights in woods come cooler weather.

So the CRF300l is better than the DRZ400 because it can go 80 mph downhill. I feel more stupid for watching this video.
